Anders Griffen is a drummer and composer from Brooklyn, New York, working in various contexts including folk, jazz, rock, improvised music, and modern dance theater. He has performed hundreds of concerts across the United States and Europe and has appeared on over 25 recordings. Some of his first tours and recordings were with visionary tenor saxophonist, Frank Lowe. At the same time he was exploring composition and improvisation in collaboration with dancers. Later he started getting into songs and played, first with Ish Marquez and Lonesome Crew, then with Regina Spektor, Dufus, Paleface, Jeffrey Lewis, Diane Cluck, and as a New York Antifolk regular.

In 2010 Anders performed with different groups at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Lollapalooza in Chicago, and the End of the Road Festival in Dorset, England, and performed and/or recorded with Diane Cluck, The Bundles, Jeffrey Lewis and Peter Stampfel, The Walkmen, Alessi's Ark, Dufus, John Ludington, Kjersti Kveli, Yello Squares, Elisa Flynn, and Barry Bliss, as well as his own bands. Past collaborations have also included Regina Spektor, Kimya Dawson, Herman Düne, The Wave Pictures, Berth Control, Meiko, Linda Draper, Randi Russo, American Anymen, Deep Sound Diver, Shag, Kevin Carlisle, Conor Lyons, David White, Zack Hexum, Loren Stillman, Bernard Santacruz, Chris Parker, Michael Marcus, and Frank Lowe, among other artists, composers, instrumentalists, and choreographers.

Anders Griffen studied with Michael Carvin at the Michael Carvin School of Drumming in addition to studies with Ron Carter, Kenny Burrell, Joe Shepley, Dary John Mizelle, and others. He holds a BFA in Music Composition from SUNY-Purchase College and an MLIS from UCLA.
